20 years of singing

January 2024 – we are preparing music for our 20th Anniversary Concert (date to be announced). At the same time, we’re continuing our preparation for our tour to Cologne in May, when we’ll be singing with local Cologne choir Im Takt.

About VoiceBox
VoiceBox was formed in 2004 by Lesley Morris and Keith Harris. The choir has sung on local radio and is now well known, singing in festivals, fund raisers and concerts, both at home and abroad.
The choir has around 40 members and performs a wide variety of music, ranging through choral classics, gospel, musical theatre, barbershop, folk, pop and early music, each presented in its own vital and lively style.
Since its formation VoiceBox has raised thousands of pounds for local, national and international charities. We are a friendly bunch, and have a warm and supportive atmosphere for everyone to have fun, enjoy their singing, and to flourish musically.
January 2024 – VoiceBox Musical Director Lesley Morris writes:
Welcome back everyone – we are very excited and looking forward to the coming year. Our 20th Birthday celebrations – and the First Tour since Covid.
We are starting off January with some great new pieces and a few old ones which we will have sung before, but will still be new to many people. We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome any new members who are joining us this year.
I am particularly looking forward to the two pieces from Sister Act ‘I will follow him’ and ‘Raise your voice’ and the wonderful a capella, and rather naughty piece, ‘Il est bel et bon’, which we will be performing in Cologne, Germany, with the resident choir, Im Takt.
This tour will take place in May, from the 9th to the 12th. We do hope as many people as possible will come – it is a long week end.
We hope to strike up good friendships and are also hoping their choir will come over to sing with us in Witney next year.
Our main focus this year will be on our 20th Birthday Concert – date yet to be confirmed, but we are aiming for July 20th.
I cannot believe that we started so long ago – with just 10 or so singers – several are still with us. Hooray!
We will be choosing some of the best of this term’s music, but we are always open to other suggestions from choir members. Indeed, we have taken some requests already. We will also be encouraging singers to take solo lines where available – as one of the hallmarks of this choir is marrying the full choral sound with the individual voices.
So let’s sing on – into 2024.
There are no auditions for potential new members – just come to a few rehearsals and you will know if VoiceBox is right for you.
